Went to explicit reading workshop last week and learned so much.  I never quite understood what explicit meant in reference to teaching, but it all became clear.  Repetition and making sure they understand what they are learning is the key.  Don't let them sit there and not understand, make sure that they all participate.  I have been doing the explicit vocabulary lesson with my 4th graders and they absolutely love it.  They are participating, understanding, and remembering (and having fun doing it).  I am excited to take this to the next point.
